Aquaponics Update

Yet again we have made more changes to our Aquaponic System!

One of the big changes is we have gotten three Goldfish! They are very cute and a lot smaller than the Tilapia. They are adjusting to their new home quite well and we are excited to have some new fishy friends in our class !

Also we decorated the tank! We put rocks on the bottom of the tank ,and added a pretty purple flower and a plant pot cave so the fish wont be bored or depressed!

We have also added a new feature called Bio-Balls. They are kind of a long cylinder with slots and lots of surface area. Bacteria from the tank gets trapped in the slots and stays there. So the Bio-Balls are like a self relying maid helping keep our tank clean!

We have also learned that a parent at our school named Chris has an aquaponique system in his back yard with over 70 Tilapia in it. We hope that if he can get it running before school is over that we can take a field trip to go and check it out. That would be so cool!

We also will be getting 3 bigger Goldfish from Chris. Chris also supplied us with the Bio-Balls.

We would like to give a big thanks To Jack and Basim for coming in so frequently and helping us get this far. We would also like to thank Chris for providing us with his information and the some of our supplies.

Accountability Buddies

Accountability Buddies are a thing we are doing in our class. The idea of the accountability buddies is that each student would get a buddy. Their buddies are going to help each other during class time and outside of school too. Each accountability buddy has to help the other if they are having trouble or need help. Also known as the way teachers get out of helping students when it is not a worthwhile question. When their buddy is out of class and comes back, it is their responsibility to fill them in on the job they are in the proses of. When they are away and there is a permission form or slip, they will put it in their buddies desk or box. The idea is that they will be able to talk freely and ask questions when they need to and not be afraid to put up your hand. Not be afraid to do anything in class and to stop getting in late to class or any other problem the buddy, and the other had, and they would help each other to get rid of it.
