Things That are Sold

Hello! Have you heard about our bracelet lately? Well on Wednesday we sold them! We have our money for the loan and 200 dollars for our charity's Do it For Daren and CHEO! Most importantly everyone has something to celebrate! As we sold the students and teachers there bracelets we asked them what they had to celebrate and in the end everyone had something to celebrate! As we sold them everyone seemed so happy and into! Big thank you to Tiiu's grade 6 students to keeping it together and working as a team, also a shout out to Adam and Tanner! Our business partners. Also a big thank you to Maya our bracelet critic! Out of all the biggest thank you to Tiiu teaching us about business and money we had the best time! Also teaching us how to make that great bracelet! Unforgettable year! If you have yet to buy a bracelet on Friday and Monday, hurry we have only 62 left! Remember when you are feeling down look at your bracelet and think you have something to celebrate!

Things You Ask

We have been loving Mystery Skypes. So far, we have done two of them and we are learning lots. Here are some of the things we are learning:

Brooklyn: Atlases are sometimes easier to use then computers. In an atlas, I can look up the information in the index but it is harder to search on Google Maps.

Tess: I disagree. I find the computer easier to use then the atlas. The atlases has more stuff on a page whereas I can search for something specific and the computer will help me find it.

Ella: I learned that some people know more about Canada then others do. For our first Mystery Skype, they didn't pronounce things correctly but the second group seemed to know more.

Aniek: I found out that some of us have a lot to learn about American Geography.

Maya V: I learned that we have some things to learn about Canada. Sometimes, the other group would ask us if we lived near something, and we hadn't even heard of it!

Karim: It is fun to do a Mystery Skype. It helps us to learn about geography and other classes in a fun way.

Ian: I learned how to use Google Maps. I learned how to use the pinpoints.

Maya W: I learned that Google Maps wasn't as helpful as Google when trying to find the specific school.

Tiiu: I learned that we could use some work on questioning skills. Some questions are better than others, depending on what information we already have. Let's take a look at some good questions now:


Good Mystery Skype Questions

Is it ______ o'clock where you are?

Do you live in the US? (This is a good question for early on. They are probably going to be from the US, so this helps us eliminate a large part of the globe)

Do you live near one of the oceans (Pacific or Atlantic). (This is a good question because we will be able to determine if they are along the west or east coast.)

Does your state begin with a letter from the first half of the alphabet (A-M) or the second half (N-Z)? (This is a good question because we would elinmate a lot of states.)

Does the spelling of your state have more than 10 letters? 3 syllables?

Are you on the north, south, east, or west side of your city?

Do you go to an elementary school? Middle school?

Are you from this school board?

Are you from a private school? Public school?

Other than good questions, we also learned that good listening is important. Sometimes, we repeated questions or asked questions that we should have already known the answer to. It is important to be quiet so we can hear their answers, and listen to see if we understand the information in order to hone in on the school's location.

Today Nepean high school came to our school to perform a play. The play was well done as well as the music.

There were students in the play who used to be at Churchill and in Tiiu's class. We're wondering if one of us will one day come back to perform for the school.

Things That Have a Beat

Today at the assembly we did a lot of really cool things like drumming on the floor, learning to do African dancing, and dancing to the drums! This is a great thing to do at Churchill because of how much the school likes to get its students into music. Al so we learn new African words from this!

Things At the Theatre

Today at the Mayfair theatre we had our second stop motion film festival. The theme for this year was "Movies With a Message". The videos that the students created were amazing, well thought out, and also in track with the theme. What amazed us the most is the dedication of the students to their films and how every detail counted to them. A special thanks to the people at the Mayfair, Tara, Tiiu, and everyone who helped with it. Thanks again students of room 207.

Things You Share

Today we presented our bracelet project at the school sharing. (Kurtis)
We introduced the whole school to our company and our brand. (Karim)
We got up, danced, gave high fives, and made eye contact with the kids in the audience. We did this to represent our brand and show everyone that we have something to celebrate. (Nick)
We really got people happy and in the mood to celebrate. I think we really got the idea of our brand out there. (Ella)
We were so awesome in the gym and everyone couldn't stop smiling. It felt awesome and we felt proud and held our heads high. (Brooklyn)
We felt a little nervous to talk into the microphone but we knew that we could do it. We spoke clearly and excitedly. (Jalila)
Andrew, Owen, Ray, and Shauna's classes played the ukuleles. It was really good. They played songs we all knew. (Logan)
Andrew's string ensemble did amazing. I never knew that a piano could be in a string ensemble. I guess it's because there are actually strings inside the piano. (Kieran)
Ray's class showed a video about drugs and alcohol and healthy living. Each student wrote a quote for themselves about their future and how to avoid making bad decisions. One that stuck out to me was "Be Sunnyside Up". (Nick)
"The highway may be tempting but forests rule" was one I remembered. Trent wrote it. (Kieran)
"Your cup is full. Don't let it spill" was Brooke's. I liked that one. (Tiiu)
Mackenna's said "Don't let life dull your sparkle". (Brooklyn)
"Keep calm because YOLO (you only live once)". That was Sarah C's. (Tess)
I liked the Molly's. It was "Stay away from the tiger. Ride the unicorn." (Olivia)
I liked Bella's. "Me. Just me." (Sarah)

I think the sharing went really well. We got our word out there about the bracelet. It was a great "celebration". Yay us.

Things That are Strategically Placed

Today we handed over some bracelets to some teachers! We handed them to the teachers because we wanted the kids and all the teachers to know about the bracelet. We wanted to show how happy we are supposed to be!

Things that rock!

For rock of ages we are singing new songs. Each class came up with one song to share. Natalie's class shared a song called Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell. One of the lines says don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone. We think that means don't what you have for granted. Shauna's class shared a song Little Boxes. The main message is that you should just be your self and do what you want to do. Our class choose the song Ordinary Day. The message is if you lose still be happy because you did your best and that's ok. Owen and Andrew's class choose a song sang by Chris Hatfield and Ed Robertson called Is Somebody Singing. The song is all about we're ever you are you're still the same person. The last song is chosen by Ray's class called Stompa by Serena Rider.
